Special English session in the 2020 Spring Meeting of JSFS

   
 
  The Japanese Society of Fisheries Science (JSFS) has strengthened its policy to promote participation of foreign researchers and students in its annual meetings in order to spearhead international collaboration and development. Having had a successful special English session in 2019 Spring Meeting of JSFS, we decided to follow up with an international session on “Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Fisheries Sciences” in the 2020 Spring Meeting of JSFS held on March 26-30, 2020 in Tokyo, Japan, that will be open to all JSFS members as well as non-members. We look forward to active participation from members of our partnership societies, The American Fisheries Society (AFS), The Fisheries Society of the British Isles (FSBI), The Korean Society of Fisheries and Aquatic Science (KOSFAS), and The China Society of Fisheries (CSF) in this session. The details of this session are as follows.
 
 
Main Theme and Specific Topics: Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Fisheries Science. Each presentation may fall under one or more of the following SDGs topics.
 
1. No poverty. End poverty in all its forms everywhere.
2. Zero hunger. End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture.
3. Good health and well-being. Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.
4. Quality education. Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
5. Gender equality. Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
6. Clean water and sanitation. Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.
7. Affordable and clean energy. Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.
8. Decent work and economic growth. Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.
9. Industry, innovation and infrastructure. Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation.
10. Reduce inequalities. Reduce inequality within and among countries.
11. Sustainable cities and communities. Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.
12. Responsible consumption and reproduction. Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.
13. Climate action. Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.
14. Life below water. Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development.
15. Life on land. Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss.
16. Peace, justice and strong institutions. Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels.
17. Partnerships for the Goals. Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.
 
 
Language: English will be the official language of this session.
 
 
Presentation types: This session will include oral presentations. Oral presentations are 15 minutes in total length that should include 3-5 minutes for questions and answers.

Fees: Participation fees vary depending on the type of participation and time of payment as shown in the following table. Members of JSFS and partnership societies (AFS, FSBI, KOSFAS, and CSF) are eligible to the discount rates as either regular or student members. All payments should be made by Credit Card and in Japanese Yen. Please note that the actual amount invoiced to your credit card may vary depending on currency exchange rates at the time of payment.
 
* Please note that the above registration price does not include attendance to the banquet on March 28th.
Tickets for the banquet are priced at 5,000 Japanese Yen and are available from the registration form.
 
 
Registration: To attend or to make a presentation in this session, please visit https://www.gakkai-web.net/p/jsfs/sdgs/new2.php. Participants wishing to make a presentation at the session should submit your abstract by January 24th 2020 and provide the title and an abstract with a maximum of 300 words. Please note that each presenter (actual speaker) can make up to a maximum of two presentations in this session.
