International session in the 2024 Spring Meeting of JSFS
“Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Fisheries Sciences”
The Japanese Society of Fisheries Science (JSFS) is very pleased to offer the fourth time opportunity for everyone, with no restrictions on membership, academic position, nor nationality, to join its annual meetings for the purpose of encouraging international collaboration and development. This international session, with the subject of “Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Fisheries Sciences”, started in 2019 and continued in every Spring meeting. In this 2024 Spring Meeting, we are holding the event in person during March 27 to 30, 2024 (Programs will be announced) in Tokyo, Japan. This session is open to all JSFS members as well as non-members. We look forward to active participation from members of our partnership societies, The American Fisheries Society (AFS), The Fisheries Society of the British Isles (FSBI), The Korean Society of Fisheries and Aquatic Science (KOSFAS), and The China Society of Fisheries (CSF) in this session. The details of this session are as follows.
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Fisheries Science. Each presentation may fall under one or more of the following SDGs topics.
No poverty. End poverty in all its forms everywhere.
Zero hunger. End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture.
Good health and well-being. Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.
Quality education. Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
Gender equality. Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
Clean water and sanitation. Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.
Affordable and clean energy. Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.
Decent work and economic growth. Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.
Industry, innovation and infrastructure. Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation.
Reduce inequalities. Reduce inequality within and among countries.
Sustainable cities and communities. Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.
Responsible consumption and reproduction. Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.
Climate action. Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.
Life below water. Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development.
Life on land. Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss.
Peace, justice and strong institutions. Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels.
Partnerships for the Goals. Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.

Presentation types:
An oral 15-minute presentation by each speaker including 3-5 minutes for questions. Audience is not permitted to record presentation. Each presenter is permitted to submit no more than two presentations (including presentations in the Japanese sessions).
Abstract:
Download a template from here Abstract contains a presentation title, names and affiliation name(s) of a presenter and team members, a summary of the presentation in no more than 300 words organized in paragraphs of Objective, Methods, and Results. Submission deadline of the abstract is January 31, 2024.
Fees:
Participation fees vary depending on the type of participation and time of payment as shown in the following table. Members of JSFS and partnership societies (AFS, FSBI, KOSFAS, and CSF) are eligible to the discount rates as either regular or student members. All payments should be made by Credit Card and in Japanese Yen. Please note that the actual amount invoiced to your credit card may vary depending on currency exchange rates at the time of payment. Paper-based abstract book will not be provided to participants of this session (due to the cost of sending abroad). Please download the digital version of the abstract book after it is published online.

February 4, 2024. (You may correct the entry data until January 31.
February 4). Presenters should submit an abstract by January 31,
February 4, 2024. Please note that each presenter (actual speaker) can make up to a maximum of two presentations in this session.
