Coil Design for Wireless Power Transfer through Walls with Metallic Lattice

As a feasible scenario to implement wireless power transfer (WPT) systems for home environments, we proposed to integrate transmitters into the wall. However, metallic lattices exist inside walls, which interferes with WPT systems and deteriorates efficiency. To solve this problem, this paper investigated how the size and placement of coils affect the efficiency and explored a design that achieves the highest efficiency. Simulations are utilized to analyze the efficiency with different size and placement of coils. As a result, we show that a coil with 20 cm length achieved highest efficiency in the occasion that a metal lattice exists.
