Theoretical Modelling of Photon-Photon Resonance on Active Multimode Interferometer Laser Diode

A lot of attempts have been done to obtain a high modulation speed by utilizing photon-photon resonance (PPR) effect. Recently, PPR on active-MMI LD has been observed, however, explanation and modeling of PPR on active-MMI LD was still not sufficient. In this work, theoretical modeling on active-MMI LD is confirmed. By introducing a time dependent longitudinal confinement factor, resonance peak on actually implemented active-MMI LD of 15 GHz is explained successfully.
