Intelligent Bandwidth Consumption Scheduler Considering the Connectivity of Heterogeneous Wireless Networks and Users' Preferences

It can be foreseen that in a near future: (i) more and more supplemental networks will be available; and (ii) dynamic pricing schemes will be more and more popular. As a consequence, in order to get higher benefit, users have to monitor the connectivity of supplemental networks as well as the time-varying prices, and make decisions whether or not to shift the delay-tolerant traffic from peak time to off-peak time; or to offload the traffic from expensive cellular networks to supplemental networks, accordingly. This requires user intervention and hence increases communication overhead. In this paper, we focus on assisting users to schedule their bandwidth consumption intelligently especially when the users commuting subway trains in urban areas.
