An Application of Queuing Theory to OpenFlow-based Wireless Networks

In a typical software defined wireless network, an SDN controller, which centralizes controlling software, manages a group of data planes (i.e., SDN devices.) via a so-called control channel (i.e., OpenFlow channel). Understanding the channel's performance is an important and necessary task. This paper provides an analytical model of the channel, which can quickly provides performance results in a few seconds. The model is based on queuing theory, and it can be applied to answer several practical issues (e.g., calculating amount of pumping data on SDN devices or the guaranteed latency).
