Investigation on R-ML receiver and constellation constraint on NOMA

For the NOMA near-users, the interference from the far-users can be cancelled by reduced complexity maximum likelihood (R-ML) receiver or codeword level interference cancellation (CWIC) receiver. In the paper, we investigate the performance of the two types of receivers for downlink NOMA with SU-MIMO. The impact of the constellation constraint is investigated to reduce the receiver complexity and signalling overhead. It is found that the impact of constellation constraint is limited and the performance of R-ML receiver is similar with the ideal CWIC receiver.
