An ultra-small quantum oscillator is a stable signal source with superior short-term and long-term stability. It is expected to be an atomic clock used for synchronization of communication, navigation, cloud-computing, and any other systems and a high-sensitive magnetic sensor used in an imaging sensor system and a medical equipment. In this session, we invite the presentations about the fundamental physics, manufacturing technology, circuit technology, system technology and application of ultra-small quantum oscillators and sensors. We hope that this session will promote the research and development of ultra-small quantum oscillators and sensors in Japan.
AS-3 Information Sharing in Time of Disaster
We have experienced that when a large-scale disaster arises, the existing network-communication system in the disaster area becomes downed by damage of network communication facilities , stop of an electric power supply and increase of traffic through some large-scale disasters. When a large-scale disaster arises, it is important that a disaster victim secures information-sharing means in the disaster area for lifesaving, escaping, guidance, and person finding which can be used immediately after the disaster arises. In this symposium, we discuss the information-sharing system
for lifesaving, escaping, guidance and person finding which can be used by disaster victims in the disaster area immediately after the disaster arises.
AS-4 Information and Communication Networks for Safe and Secure Life
Considering natural large scale disasters (earthquake, heavy rain, tornado and so on), traffic accidents or crimes for children, information and communication systems are very useful for defense or mitigation of the damage, moreover, retrieve or reconstruction of the disaster-stricken area. This symposium focuses on the researches on ad-hoc networks, sensor networks, congestion control, reliable radio access, cognitive radio, broadband radio transmission, network design, allocation strategy, ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems) and so on, for Information and Communication Systems for Safe and Secure Life (ICSSSL). Moreover, this symposium also treats researches on disaster information studies, human behavioral studies in disasters and disaster information management studies for making the above researches more practical.
AS-5 Reliable and Robust Control via Network
Recently, there are many research and developments on control of physical elements or machines over communication networks such as smart grid, factory automation, unmanned aerial vehicle, and so on. There are many technical challenges to realize stable control over communication networks with packet loss and delay as in very large scale control networks like smart grid or control over wireless links like unmanned aerial vehicle. In this symposium, we would like to call for papers related to innovative technologies to realize reliable and robust control over communication networks.

BS-1 Technologies on antenna, propagation, and systems for realizing small cell with high speed and broadband transmission
Further improvement on frequency utilization is required because wireless transmissions with very high data rate is essential due to the smart phones and wireless LANs. Recently, MIMO technologies is incorporated into commercial systems to improve the transmission rate. Moreover, the concept on Massive MIMO, which uses a lot of antennas at the base station, is proposed for further improvement on frequency utilization. In addition, the usage on the higher frequency band and small cells for the broadband transmission.
On the other hand, heterogeneous networks, which overlay picocell and femtocells onto marcocell, is proposed for improving the system channel capacity. In this symposium, we invite the session which deals with latest technologies on antenna, propagation, and systems: technologies on broadband transmission, small cell, and frequency sharing, and so on which are essential for future wireless systems. We also discuss the research and development and future prospect on this topic.
BS-2 Cooperative Technologies in Wireless Systems with Small Cells
We have been studing on wireless networks with a lot of small cell base stations, which are expected to have a large frequency bandwidth and are densely deployed. The motivation of such a small cell deployment is to deal with sharply increasing mobile traffic in wireless networks. In accordance with the trend of deploying a lot of small cell base stations, it is anticipated that a various kinds of cooperations and coordinations such as among base stations, between base and mobile stations, between base stations and core networks will be required. This symposium session calls for papers on various kinds of cooperation and coordination technologies and techniques for wireless networks with a large number of small cells. The objective of the session is to concentratively discuss the technologies and techniques.
BS-3 The network and system technologies for realizing
the energy management system(xEMS)
Many research projects and experiments are going on to realize xEMS
(HEMS, BEMS, FEMS, etc.) which makes efficient utilization of energy in many segments of society such as home, building and factory possible. For xEMS, wide variety of technologies such as network technology for data acquisition and control, gateway technology to connect each site (home, building, factory, etc.) to cloud and data management and processing technology in cloud are needed.
In this symposium, we will have presentations and make discussions on
the latest technologies of network and system to realize xEMS.
