A Two-Level Directory based Cache Coherence Protocol for Chip Multiprocessor

Chip multiprocessor (CMP) frame is commonly employed to improve the system performance, but there exists a serious problem of cache coherence in such system.To keep cache coherence,a directory is usually used to store states of blocks in a cache and memory such as full-map directory, limited directory or chained directory methods.However, few of those methods are suitable for all applications due to large overhead or low accuracy. In this paper,we propose a low overhead two-level directory frame to store directory data which combines the merits of both full-map and limited directory.
