A Reliable Routing Method Using Local Repair for Ad Hoc Multicasting

Generally, multicast communications are well suited for data distribution services in ad hoc networks due to its wireless broadcast nature. Unstable wireless communications, however, cause considerable deterioration of packet delivery rate and delayed delivery in conventional multicast routing protocols. This paper proposes a novel multicast routing protocol with alternative route construction considering nodes' mobility prediction and link failure notification based on local repair mechanism in order to efficiently enhance the transmission reliability in wireless ad hoc multicast networks.
