Observation of Hot Spot Phenomenon Induced by Injecting Current in Solar Cell

Hot spot phenomenon is responsible for many failures occurred in solar modules. The characteristics of hot spot phenomenon need to do effectively the monitoring and maintenance of a solar module. In this study, hot spot phenomenon was induced by injecting forced current, and the characteristics of the hot spot phenomenon were investigated. It was found that the solar cell which was appeared the hot spot phenomenon had locally high-temperature region with the rise in the overall temperature of the solar cell. The locally monitoring of the side region in solar cells may lead to early detection of the hot spot.
