The cross-linked PE(XLPE) has been most widely used for the power cable insulating layer because of its outstanding properties such as electrical breakdown and mechanical strength. However, XLPE is unrecyclable when disposed after replacement and demolishing because it becomes thermosetting through cross-linked process. Recently, properties test of cable insulator material is in progress in order to replace the XLPE[2]. In this work, we evaluated the breakdown strength and the ALT results using the McKeown electrode system, as well as the water treeing behavior comparing to the XLPE as reference.
