The Simple Sensorless Maximum Power Point Tracker for Single-Stage Grid Connection

The MPPT algorithm plays an important role in Grid Connection for Photovoltaic Systems. This paper presents a simple method for MPPT without PV current sensor in single-stage configuration. Moreover, this method is not derived from complex state equations and not dependent on any circuit parameters. It simply calculates the output power of the inverter to replace the input power of the PV Systems. The new algorithm is tested in Matlab/Simulink and implemented in the experimental prototype with valid results. With the single-stage configuration and PV-current-sensorless method, the prototype is suitable for low cost productions in the future.
